Women's Summer Fashion
As summer is in full swing, we wanted to create a helpful style guide on women's summer fashion for all the women who aren’t quite sure what to be wearing this season.
Back to Basics
You’ve probably heard it before but having a wardrobe full of staple pieces instead of what’s trendy for a few months is what you need. It helps to ensure your money isn’t being wasted, you won’t have to buy new clothes again soon and it’s better for the environment. But what are the basics?
A simple cotton button-up shirt is an essential for your wardrobe. Not only does it look super cute, but it can be dressed up or down. From a casual summer's day to a fancier dinner at night, it works for any occasion. However, to fit in with the summer trend of this year, we are seeing lots of colour matching shorts and cotton over shirts. Try focus on lighter colours for the summer, as they’ll attract less heat.
Basic ribbed sleeveless tops have taken over summer. As a necessary staple, it allows you to create an outfit around the piece and get creative with your bottoms and accessories. Speaking of bottoms, you can never go wrong with denim. As current fashion continues to embody 90’s fashion, Bermuda style shorts are in and here to stay. They’re longer in length than usual shorts, allowing you to be more comfortable whilst still looking good. Linen trousers are a great alternative if you want something full length that feels light and airy. And of course, you can never go wrong with a summer dress.
Footwear
Aside from the obvious sandals worn in summer, sometimes you may require a closed shoe for a day outing, such as hiking, or something a bit more formal for the evening.
This is where styling your shoe with a good pair of socks takes your outfit up a notch. For the evenings, or a cooler day, wearing a good pair of loafers with socks adds an element of elegance to your outfit. However, it’s important to wear summer socks, that are breathable whilst providing support to ensure you don’t get too hot. This works well for more casual trainers such as converse too, where you’re not looking to be too dressed up but still want a closed shoe.
For the more athletic elements of summer, get your hands on a quality pair of trainer socks, to be able to get yourself hot and physical during summer in comfort.
Accessories
Accessories are the place where it makes more sense to follow trends, as they’re genuinely cheaper and smaller. Claw clips have taken over summer, allowing you to style your hair in a way that cools you whilst looking good.
The other must-have summer accessory are head scarves. They range in many different patterns, allowing you to choose what works best for your outfit of the day, and just add an extra bit to your outfit making you look more put together. They can also be tied around bags for an extra pop of colour in your fit.
